Is it possible for someone to hack into my home PC or Smart phone through WIFI and maliciously place Photos/Files on my computer without my knowledge??

Hi @1happyslapper - welcome to CF

It is technically possible for anyone that manages to get into your network for them to just about do anything if they're skilled enough including putting malicious files on your devices, with that said the chance is slim to none. They'll either have to be physically close to your wifi network and either crack the password (difficult for modern routers using WPA2/WPA3) or have physical access to your network, or potentially get in through your internet connection.

The chances of it happening are fairly unlikely but if you suspect it has it may be worth resetting all your passwords, checking your router's security and running a virus/malware scan of every device.

To protect your home PC and smartphone from potential security threats related to your Wi-Fi network, here are some recommendations:

1. Ensure your Wi-Fi network is secured with a strong password and uses WPA2 or WPA3 encryption.
2. Update your router's firmware regularly to patch any known vulnerabilities.
3. Change the default administrative credentials for your router to prevent unauthorized access.
4. Disable any remote management features on your router to prevent external tampering.
5. Use a firewall on your devices to monitor and block suspicious network activity.
6. Enable two-factor authentication where available for added security.
7. Regularly update your devices and applications to patch any security flaws.
8. Be cautious of phishing attempts and only download files or click on links from trusted sources.

Taking these precautions can help reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your devices through your Wi-Fi network.
